Just don't give it to a boff as they'll just constantly swap modes rather than anything useful. As with the lobi herald weapon targetting a 'back row' enemy can cause it to arc forward and flank the closer ones.

The lukari rep wrist thing isnt a bad weapon, decent 2ndry thats an aoe and basic attack arcs to nearby enemies. There were those dual wield blades from an event a wee while ago.
